Hi
Really enjoying Plex so far, and I know that I could set it up to see all my music, and use last.fm etc, but I already have this setup for my Squeezebox setup, and its great to have multiroom audio.
Any chance of building in the software version of Squuezebox, Squeezeplay? This wpould be cool to have a full screen Squeezebox player under the music section. I could then play anything from my music or BBC Radio to all the rooms round my house I have squeezebox stuff.

i’d like to second that. squeezecenter-support would be really great
Count me in on this well!! I think this could open up plex to even more people

Having a Plex front-end to SqueezePlay would be so, so sweet. SqueezePlay has a nice interface for showing the album art, etc, but it’s tiny on my 1080p 42 incher that’s across the family room.
Here’s a little secret for getting remote control of Pandora, Lastfm, etc running on your Mac: download SequeezePlay (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/) and buy the iPend iPhone or iPad app ($10). Works amazingly well!
+1 vote!
Could this be done as a plugin for Plex?
Is Squeezeplay open source?

I have several Squeezebox-type players around the house. Currently I run the Plex and Slimserver servers on the same Mac Mini. It would be great if I could retire the Slimserver and have my Squeezebox hardware talk to the Plex server, which would require Plex to emulate a Slimserver I imagine.
As SB can't handle video, there is no point in my asking for a Plex client that can talk to Slimserver: instead I want a single server handling both and serving both existing Plex clients (eg Roku) and Squeezebox hardware.
Cheap though units like the Roku are, they require a screen to navigate even with audio only. The beauty of the SB devices is their built-in display.Â
So might it be possible for Squeezeboxes to talk to a Plex server? What would be needed to do this?

Totally Agree
add me to the list!!
I concur!
Can't imagine it's too hard to code just getting song information from a running squeezebox server, and displaying that information in PMC.
+1 - with of course the option to run it headless as per existing SBox devices. I hate having the screen on for no reason !
Count me in on this - there must be 1000's of squeezebox users out there who'd go for this !!
I cannot agree more with integrating LMS and Plex in order to have only one media server installed on the computer.
I am currently running Logitech Media Server streaming music to a Squeezebox Touch and a bunch of iPhones, iPads via iPeng app (iPeng is amazing, by the way).
My biggest challenge is getting Plex and LMS to work properly on the same computer. Fresh LMS install works fine until the first reboot of computer, when something happens and Plex seems to take over some common ports or something that blocks LMS in the firewall. Both are fine with firewall off, but that is not an option.
I have researched this for days, made sure all known ports for both Plex and LMS are open in firewall, countless reinstalls, all in vain. Without Plex installed LMS works flawlessly. With Plex it works until I reboot the pc. Interesting part, even with the firewall on, when none of my devices communicate with LMS, Logitech’s self test still reports that everything is ok and the server could be accessed from local network or Internet. If anybody encountered similar problems and has a solution, I am very open to any ideas.
Unfortunately, at this moment I had to give up on Plex because a properly functional LMS with Squeezebox is the first priority between them.
What operating system are you using alin22?
I've had no issues on Ubuntu.
No issues on Win7 neither.

Hi, I am using Windows server 2012 R2. It seems that LMS has issues with other servers too. I've removed Plex and installed AirVideoHD with the same end result. Everything works until the next server reboot when LMS stops working.
I run Plex and LMS on the same server too. Â It would be nice to only use Plex, but LMS works so much better for music, especially FLAC files with cue sheets. Â But besides the server, I would need to use a single client as well. Â Right now I have a Raspberry Pi for a PlexHT (Rasplex) client and a separate Cubox running Squeezelite for music. Â I like the Cubox because it has an integrated S/PIF wihch I use to my receiver.
Combining both boxes would be nice. Â I suppose I could do that NOW on the client side by running a regular version of Linux on the Cubox for PlexHT as well, but as it stands the Openelec (re: closed) Rasplex works better, so I keep them separate.
Hi Alin22 - I use Windows Server Essential 2012 and have no problems using Plex and LMS on the same server. Â You say that LMS works OK until you reboot server. Â How do you get LMS to work again - reinstall ?
1. I'm running LMS and PMS for years on a Qnap - no problem having them on the same box. I also don't see how they could interfere with eachother. I simply point both to the iTunes music lib folder (on same NAS). So, actually iTunes, PMS and LMS sharing the same music folder. Runs for years without problems.
2. Now as PMS got all the fancy music features, it would be worth considering retiring LMS and letting PMS do the job. I see the problem that the Plex APP would have to be able to control the Squeezeboxes like iPeng does. iPeng is already pretty perfect and as Logitech did retire the Squeezboxes for whatever reason, I doubt Plex will implement this feature although it would be totally awesome. I guess if somebody can do the hard work, Plex might implement it.
The alternative could be to install airplay support for LMS ("ShairPort" if I remember correctly), this should make them visible for PMS, too. But you can probably only have one box playing at a time.
I solved my problem a few months ago. After hours of internet research and playing with the firewall, I figured it out. Don’t know what the cause of the problem is but the solution works so It doesn’t really matter.
Ok, so Logitech Squeezeserver (or the file squeezesvr.exe) was open in the firewall, no problem. Still it wouldn’t work. I went and manually opened the ports 9000, 9090 and 3483, both TCP and UDP, selecting to be opened for squeezesvr.exe. Well, it still didn’t work.
The solution? Open the ports mentioned above for “all programs” instead of the specific Sqeeze Server. It is only needed for inbound traffic, both TCP and UDP.
I have no idea why opening the Firewall for Logitech Squuezebox works from a fresh installation, but after Plex is installed, not. It looks to me like the firewall doesn’t recognize squeezesvr.exe and sees it as something else. As soon as I opened thise ports for all programs it started to work perfectly.
And it still does after several months.
I hope this information will help.
