I have Plex, and after an update, not sure how long ago, I have very low volume on plex. I am playing back on a Yamaha receiver, connected via HDMI, with 5.1 playback options enabled on the server itself, the console, and the receiver. I used to be able to easily listen to movie at a volume of say, -39… now I have to turn it up to like -20 to be able to hear it reasonably… The only change was a software update on the xbox itself. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thank you.
I’ve had different volume results from different audio output settings on my Xbox One. Mine seems to lose my “bitstream” and “Atmos” settings (top and bottom of the 3 audio output settings). You might consider peeking at the output form and be sure it matches what you expect.
I think Plex is one of the few players that will try to use various output codecs if it can, based on the source file in part.
I know with usual computer playback there are often ways to normalize (make quiet things louder mostly) audio levels in many players. No idea if that exists in Plex land.
