Actually, it’s two questions. First, does PlexPass not have the ability to use embedded lyrics? I figured basic Plex wouldn’t, but the premium service might.
Secondly, Lyric Find seems rather inconsistent to nonexistent. I think it is no more than second scraper down in each category. And I realize not every song will have lyrics available nor will Plex scrapers pick up (say) what Kodi scrapers do. But there’s some really well-known stuff I don’t see the icon for. Am I doing something wrong? I haven’t had Plex for long, let alone PlexPass.
Thanks in advance.
Plex can not use embedded lyrics, but it can use local “sidecar” files. See this help page for instructions. There is a feature request to add support for embedded lyrics. However, since they support the sidecar files, I wouldn’t expect embedded support to happen anytime soon.
What I’ve found is that Lyricfind is organized by albums. Consider a song that appears on an original album as well as, say, a greatest hits or other compilation album. If you have the original album, Lyricfind might have the lyrics for the song, but if you have the greatest hits or compilation album, it may not find it.
Unfortunately Lyricfind doesn’t allow you to look through their database to see what they do and don’t have.
