year 2022 and still waiting

agree 1000% if you really want the lyrics for an album you will make your own and add them to that album/folder
if you have the TXT or timed lyrics added by yourself and no fees required by Plex why CANT we have lyrics option to ALWAYS BE ON after each new song plays from that album?
BTW here is the site I use to make my own timed lyrics using the TXT files I find on the web:
I have my own lyrics⌠just let me keep them onâŚ
agree. 100% if they are your own generated txt or lrc lyrics no reason we cant leave them on all the time and stay on. no licensing fees required.
It feels stupid not to solve this problem for so many years because of a LyricFind authorization. Canât you add a judgment, if the lyrics are displayed all the time, then give up the LyricFind query function? And most people who can really read the lyrics should download the lyrics offline.
Some good news for local lyricsâŚ
If LyricFind lyrics cost money, and there are licensing issues, then show local lyrics by default.
It shouldnât be so hard to add a switch for always displaying local lyrics. The function doesnât work well on plexamp, It will not work when I switch to another album. As for other clientapp(such as PlexHTPC and Plex, this feature is missing ![]()
@elan answered in Reddit thread 3 years ago that at least local lyrics can be done. Maybe this thread of 9 years is not enough indication of the need?
9 years! Plex inc. must be saving tens of thousands $$ per month in licensing fees by not displaying lyrics automatically. I wonder how much, must be A LOT of money. Or if we all turn on lyrics, Plex inc. will go bankrupt. What can possibly be the reason?
This story makes Plexamp look like someoneâs personal hobby project. If they donât use lyrics, theyâll never be bothered to make that change, not in 9 years, not ever.
Donât really like your tone, but we did the local-lyrics-stay-on improvement early last year.
Iâm new to using lyrics in plex and I will check out the local lyrics. However, it seems to me a balance could be struck here. Plex gains nothing (except an upset paying custom) by forcing the user to request the lyrics each and every song. Why not do something like Netflix with âare you still watchingâ dialog. After the first song, ask if lyrics should remain on and then keep it on for next 5 or 10 or⌠Would be in memory and reset next session. While this would not be completely hands off, it would certainly be less annoying than currently. You could even add a note about the cost to plex so user would understand.
wow - @elan is that really how the lyrics companies license this out to Plex as a corporation? Every time a client loads the lyrics onscreen an application for a song - you guys have to pay a fraction of a cent or something?
If so that totally does change my opinion as to whether or not this is a good idea to for apps to do.
However, what if you gave us the option to only show embedded metadata lyrics (or sidecar files) as always-on when a song was loaded? That way those of us who are obsessive and just love putting lyrics on song could still see lyrics automatically on new loads, but the auto-loading (and Plex paying for) lyrics being loaded doesnât trigger on this.
See for me, I listen to a lot of Hindi songs despite being a white guy in Wisconsin, and I enjoy adding the lyrics in both sanskrit, the transliteration of the sanskrit to English characters, and lastly the lyric meanings translated into English.
No lyric service is ever going to go to this length on a song, but I already can - and do - create my own .lrc files, carefully curate my lyric analyses, and sidecar them. Those sidecar files work fine - but I like everyone else, has to click the âturn on lyricsâ every time a new song comes up. Yet my lyrics cost plex nothing to load. So itâd be really great if I wouldnât need to click âshow lyricsâ each time.
Anyway, happy to make this as a new and separate request if that makes more sense. Thanks for reading - love your product.
that is the license we have.
a while ago we made the change to leave on lyrics if they are sidecar.
Completely understandable. Thanks for the reply! Iâll have to take another look at my sidecar .lrc files and make sure I have them configured properly so I can get glorious song-after-song lyrics up on the screen.
i love the lyrics option. But I have to enable it for each track. I would be good if, once enabled for one track, it could stay on for the following tracks. Even better, it would be great to have an option to always display lyrics by default. Ta!
I didnât see the existing request, and now I see the explanation. All makes sense. Keep up the good work Plex!
Iâm not quite sure what you mean by sidecar lyrics. All of my tracks have LRC lyric files that I provided myself. However, in the Plex app on both Mac and iPhone, the LRC lyrics do not display continuously, and I still need to manually enable them each time I play the next song. The same issue occurs on Android TV.
I would like to know whether this change is applied to the server or the player. Is there a specific version requirement? Are you saying that youâve already allowed the default display of user-provided LRC lyrics? Based on my experience, this has not been implemented yet.
Plexamp does support the continuous display of local lyrics, but the Plex app currently does not, at least based on my experience. However, Plexamp on TV, for example, cannot directly browse personal media libraries, so it canât be used as a standalone music player. We hope that all Plex apps will support the default display of local lyrics.
Can we pay you? Even having Plex pass already I would consider it.
Or can it be formally a plugin so we can display lyrics at our own legal risk? How do other players do it, are they ran by millionaires as charities?
I donât know any other player that does turn off lyrics after one track. Maybe there are? This is unusual and not something you would expect to happen as a feature.
But because itâs not clearly stated in UI, imagine how many man-hours wasted. Turning lyrics on and off, then searching for solutions, then you find Pelaxamp changelog that says âimplemented lyricsâ which increases confusion.
Until you eventually find this thread and if you read through poss, in reply number 91 you can can finally understand itâs a feature, not a bug!
