Has anyone noticed drop in quality from a M1 plex server? The quality starts off fine but after a period of time the quality of the transcode drops and it stays terrible until you stop the stream and start it again. Is this the current state of Plex on macOS?

Which player are you using?
Multiple different types. Apple tv, Chromecast, Web. All have this issue after sometime of it transcoding
Look at your Server settings. Make sure your not on relay and are Nearby. If nearby look at your Transcoder settings,
I use a Mac Mini Pro M2 without issue.
I’ve confirmed all of the above settings are correct. Not sure what else to do. I’m going to upgrade my Plex version, I haven’t in quite a while so maybe that will help

Nope, still having issues. I’m going to migrate away from OSX shortly…
That stinks, sorry. Apple Silicon hardware encoding is absolutely stellar. That’s why silent, relatively cool Macs can meet or beat Windows PCs with TOTL GPUs that sound like jets taking off from a carrier when it comes to video editing.
