Mac client ridiculously slow

I use plex from pc’s, from the web, from iphones, from the xbox - and it is all fine, so there’s nothing wrong with the server - but when I try to load from my macbook, whether on wifi or through mobile - it’s slow. Just starting up takes a good 2 minutes, and clicking on a selection actually comes back after about an hour - so obviously it’s completely unusable - but actually seems to be “working” - it will eventually play if you just leave it long enough, and buttons seem to click eventually - it’s just absurdly, unbelievably slow.
On the same machine - the web client works, but wants to transcode, and I’m trying to avoid that.

YAY FIXED - (well sort of)

I found a download for the “Plex Media Player”… it just works perfectly. I reall don’t understand what’s going on with the Plex app - it looks like its essentially a website inside a web control - but it feels like it’s just a got a whole bunch of maxed out threads or something - tried turning on the “debug” stuff - but nothing interesting came out in the logs. Anyway - the Plex Media Player works great - so my care factor in getting the Plex app working has vanished

@darrenoakeyare you running macOS Catalina (beta) ?

If so, there is an issue we are tracking that causes the UI to be super slow to render or update on macOS Catalina Beta’s

yes - using catalina

Issue still seem to be present in Catalina 10.15.0. Any other data I can provide to help with debugging? Or do I just switch to PMP?

Have you tried the preview release?
