The player would work until the other day. Now when I load, I only get the Plex logo. I tried resetting data and reinstalling the app. No luck.
I’m having the same issue. After about 2 mins, the screen just goes black. 
Same problem here. Put off upgrading the beta for a few days and everything was working fine. Installed beta 6 last night and I’m getting the same black screen of death on the Plex app. Can’t click, can’t log into a profile. All I can do is look at the black screen and close the program, so it is not frozen.
I have the same problem. I have installed and re-installed the same and latest version of the Plex app and it simply will not load on my MAC. I’m also running the latest version of Catalina. Would appreciate any info on why this is happening. Is it the MACOS(beta) and therefore, should we wait until the finished version is released to then install Plex? If it’s a problem with the version of Plex with the MAC, should a previous version be installed instead? Thanks
Tried previous version. Still had the DMG from the initial release version so figured I’d give that a try and it had the same issue. It’s something to do with the new MAC beta. That definitely seems to be whats causing the issue. My guess is that some check is failing that is causing MACos to hang on the startup of the app
Same thing here, broke after updating to the latest macOS beta. Glad to see it’s not just me, hopefully a fix will be coming soon.
It is actually a bit more complex. I think it is refresh issue if you resize the window it will eventually show up but it is unusably slow.
Plex does no handle the refresh correctly and it can be seen if you move between the internal screen and an external one.
So this worked, to a point. It allowed me to finally get past the black screen, but nothing is loading correctly. It won’t let me click anything either.

For the curious, this is the bug that causes the screen to only redraw when resizing, moving to other displays, etc: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-77958. Appears to be a breakage in Beta 7.
Version 1.3 is notarized correctly for Catalina but we’re waiting until bugs like the above are resolved to declare support.

Just updated to 1.3 and the issue is still present. Resizing needed to redraw the screen.

Also having the same issue with Catalina (19A558d) and Plex for Mac (1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d).
Will be fixed in next seed, according to Apple.

It seems to be fixed in beta 9 that just came out.
Confirmed. Fixed with Catalina Beta 8 (19A573a).
I can also confirm that it’s fixed with this update.
