Hello friends - perhaps this is not a new issue, but I failed to find any specific post that addresses this issue: the Mac Desktop player (on Big Sur 11.6, Intel Chip) does not advertise itself to the local network as a player. In fact, the Select Player button is disabled.
When I load the player (http://server:32400/web) via any browser on this machine, the web player does not advertise and the Select Player button is disabled.
From the same machine if I enable an ssh tunnel (ssh -L 8888:localhost:32400 …) and I load a web player in any browser on this machine, the web player advertises and the Select Player button is enabled.
In the options for both the Plex Web and Plex For Mac (Plex For Mac → General → Advanced → “Advertise as player”) is enabled.
I have disabled firewalls on the server and desktop(s). My test client for remote control/player is an iPhone IOS and it does show the Web Player, but not the Mac Desktop Player.
Thoughts? other threads I should read?
