Hi all,
Complete beginner here so sorry if this is pretty basic. I just set up Plex on the mac, and love it. I can access it through the web player and the mac app on the same machine, but I wanted to control it with the ios app too.
I can access it fine through the iOS app and the Plexamp app too, although the audio plays through the phone and not the Mac. I understand that to use the iPhone as a remote control I’m supposed to press the “cast” icon and select the Mac in the list of players.
However nothing appears in that list.
Any ideas what’s going on here?
Some helpful things:

when I tried it on another MacBook, the same thing happens. I can play music through the client but the list of players is blank, so I can’t use it as a remote.

Both the iPhone and the second Mac can ping the iP address of the server no problem.

There’s no firewall on the server or VPN (as far as I can tell)

both the devices I’ve used to connect and play music appear in the authorised devices list.
Any ideas where the problem might be?
