macOS Plex app not advertised as player

I am logged into my Plex account on a MacBook, connecting to my server remotely (so not on the local network)

Is it possible to remote control from the iOS app to the macOS app as long as they are on the same wifi? The macOS app is not showing up as a cast/fling destination on the iOS app.

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577 for windows
Player Version#: latest version for macOS from the website

The server needs to be on same network as well.

Ah bummer. I did check the doco but didn’t see that mentioned anywhere. Thanks for the confirmation.

You can install Plex Media server additionally onto the notebook. It doesn’t have to have any media on it, it just needs to be present.
