I had a server on my Synology NAS and the CPU wasn’t fast enough so I moved it to a Windows PC.
My Intel iMAC player works fine for a while, but eventually hangs (every time). I have to force quit it. I have two more Macs and I took one of them (an M1 Mini) and ran the player and same thing…it would work fine for a while and then hangs.
My Plex App on my Apple TV seems to work OK - just the desktops are an issue.
When the Macs were hanging, the Windows server was initiating and going through the music and video files on my HDD and I suspected that was the issue so I stopped the process on the server and retried the Mac players … but no help…they still crashed.
And I don’t have to do anything on the Mac…they can sit there doing nothing and I check maybe 30 minutes later and there is a whirlybird and no responsiveness.
I didn’t get this behavior when the Synology was the server.
Any ideas how I can debug this? I’m suspecting there’s some sort of missing handshake with the Mac/Windows communication.
