Mac Plex App Cannot Connect to Server

Server Version#: 1.41.2.9200
Player Version#: 1.105.1.257-3bc35ab9

My laptop (Macbook) is connected to my local LAN (192.168.1.0/24). My Plex server (Windows PC) is also connected to the same LAN network. I have multiple other IOS devices also connected on the same LAN network.

All my devices other than my Macbook can access the plex server using the respective native plex app. I can connect to the plex server from my Macbook using the web app in my browser (works for both safari and firefox) either using the LAN IP address of the server (192.168.1.11:32400/web) or using app.plex.tv.

I have remote access functional and can connect to the plex server when not connected to the LAN.

I pulled some logs from my Macbook which are listed below which indicate the app cant connect to either the local LAN nor the remote access address.

I can’t understand what is happening and why the Mac App is unable to connect to the server when connected to the LAN.

Turns out my privacy settings changed when i upgraded to Sequoia. Re-enabled local network access under privacy and security for Plex and it’s working again.

EXACTLY what took me an hour to fix.

MacOS app showing “indirect” access with PLEX server on same LAN in ~60 seconds
Works with MacOS Safari access to port 32400 on LAN IP
Works with MacOS Safari access to https://app.plex.tv
curl from terminal works on URLs that FAIL in PLEX app Debug log
PLEX in Ubuntu n100 docker container with “host” networking
Attempted multiple PLEX server networking settings
MacOS Network Firewall settings for PLEX app “allow incoming connections”

Solution as described by this thread:
System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > Plex [turn ON the toggle switch]
