Hi there, ive got a new Mac mini and installed Plex on it. The problem is for remote acces Plex is using my wifi connection and I want it to use ethernet. Before I had a Mac Pro and it always used the ethernet port. If I disable wifi and restart the Plex server its connecting to my ethernet but as soon as I reboot my computer its connecting on my wifi again, very annoying. In the network prefs I selected the ethernet port as my preferred interface but that doesnt change anything. Can someone please help me to fix this. Thanks in advance!
Yeah they are, but in the past I always used wifi and ethernet connection on my Mac, and now for some reason Plex picks my wifi over ethernet… I find that weird, no one with the same issue?
Forgetting about plex right now, as I understand things, if you disable wifi and reboot the Mac Mini, wifi becomes active? Correct? If so, how are you disabling wifi on your Mac Mini? I have a new Mac Mini and an old iMac and I use ethernet connections with the wifi turned off on both. My wifi never turns on after a reboot on either.
And why, from your third posting, would you choose to use both wifi and ethernet at the same time?
Change the service order (Preferences>Network; Click the + below the network interfaces). Drag the ethernet interface to the top.
For remote access to your ethernet interface, check your router DHCP and port fowarding.
Ensure your Mac’s ethernet always gets the same ip-address and that the plex incoming remote traffic is routed to this ip-addres with port 32400
