Mac Pro completely locks up after using Plex

Server Version#:1.32.3.7192
Player Version#: 1.71.1.3888-b32ecaf8

My Mac on OS 11.7.6 has been locking up a lot recently. The problem is it’s when I’m using Plex Server on the Mac to watch programming from the other side of the world. When I can get my wife to access the box, the power is on but nothing displays on the monitor. The box isn’t accessible via TeamViewer or from my wife’s Macbook Pro. The only recourse seems to be to power cycle it. I’m suspecting Plex because the machine spends months online with no troubles, but using Plex will fairly reliably freeze up either in the middle of playback or after I’ve finished watching the current program. By the time I get back home, the device has generally been restarted 3-5 times, depending on how much free time I’ve had to watch from abroad. I just restarted the Mac and immediately downloaded logs. There’s nothing named Plex in the Diagnostic Reports folder, and the crash reports folder contains a lot of empty folders. Please let me know if more information is needed or if you have any ideas.

Plex Media Server crashes while running Credits Detection during nightly maintenance, shortly after 02:00.

Try disabling Credits Detection and see if the system makes it through the night without crashing.

Settings → Library → Generate Credits Video Markers = Never.

Thanks for the quick response. I’ll give that a shot as soon as I can. Unfortunately, it seems to have done it again at 02:00 server time, so I’ll have to wait until someone can reset it for me. I’ll miss the “skip intro” button (assuming credits detection facilitates that) but will enjoy being able to use Plex more than once every few days. I’ll disable that setting and try it out for awhile.

Nope. Intro detection is separate from credit detection. :grinning:
