Mac Server Hardware Accelerated Transcoding

I know this has been mentioned by multiple different posts, but I wanted to consolidate and simplify them somewhat.

Plex Media Server on Mac is very limited when it comes to hardware accelerated transcoding due to the 1 encoding stream limitation. This brings me to my main questions:

  1. Can those working for Plex communicate with Apple to get this 1 stream encoding restriction removed? This should be an easy thing for them to change.
  2. Can those working for Plex develop a way to utilize the T2 chip found in newer Macs or work with Apple to enable such functionality?

I know this is a smaller part of the community than Windows users, but for people like me that use Mac, this has been one of the most frustrating parts about running a server on macOS.

2022 clean-up: implemented / obsolete (based on recent threads, that restriction seems to no longer exist)
