Wayyy back in the early days of Plexamp, there was an option to add an icon to the macOS Menu Bar, which made it incredibly easy to get to and control it.
I know it can currently be shown as a Dock icon, but I turn that off because I don’t need or want to select it with Cmd-Tab, especially when I have a number of apps to cycle through. I also know that the Now Playing widget takes care of some of this, but honestly I never use the Today section for anything.
Would it be possible to at least have the option of returning Plexamp to the Menu Bar? It’s a fixed, dedicated spot that’s conveniently accessible from anywhere.
It’s a possibility for the future…what sort of actions did you trigger from it? You can use the global activation key (soon to be configurable) to bring the app up as well.
Back when I was using remote control, I would adjust that from the Menu Bar, but I think I just primarily used it to bring up the overlay.
That small icon to bring up the player has simply seemed more convenient to me in this constrained screen space vs having to Cmd-Tab or finding it in the Dock (which is hidden).
But with the way the UI currently is, I could see it being a good way to access and adjust settings (viz (for those who use it), target library, etc).
