Since the update that began DNS rebinding my server cannot be connected to from many networks, including the networks that I use at work.
I have seen many articles about other users with similar issues, and some users that need to re-flash or otherwise customize their routers to prevent DNS rebinding protection.
I think there are as many reasons for the DNS rebinding capability as there are reasons against it, for example:
My IT department at work will not disable the protection for any reason
2)A router may not be owned by a Plex user, thus updating firmware to prevent the protection is not possible.
Can DNS rebinding be made into an optional server setting? Or can it be reversed at the application level?
A Plex server uses the DNS system in a way, that will often be detected by routers/firewalls as a âDNS rebinding attackâ and so, will get suppressed.
However, this is only affecting Plex clients which are in the same local network as the server.
If all your Plex clients in your home network can reach your own Plex server, âDNS rebinding protectionâ is not your issue, anyway.
Trouble to access your server from remote, e.g. from work has nothing to do with âDNS rebinding protectionâ.
Disabling it at work wonât help you to reach your home server â at all.
