Instead of only being able to select items and then create a playlist, why not create a playlist in the Playlists section and then define a query that scans for matches at regular intervals? Basically it’d be like an iTunes smart playlist.
You can already make smart playlists.
Simply activate a ‘filter’ in your library, then click on ‘Add to playlist’ (without ‘selecting’ any items first)
