Making collections

Is it possible to do collections the following way:

I always used a Mede8er as media player, so I’m kind of new to Plex. Set it up on my Shield, and I absolutely adore it, the looks, menus and everything. In Mede8er, when I have a folder with f.ex. my horror movies, I have folders with the movies inside, just like in Plex. But I had the possibility, to add a subfolder in which I could add folders again.

F.ex. Friday the 13th has over 10 movies, so in Plex they ALL show up inside my horror movie folder, but not only having Friday the 13th collection, I also have Halloween, Elm Street, Saw… you get the point. So the whole folder becomes a bit messy, and you have to scroll and scroll.

In Mede8er I just had under the horror movies folder a Friday the 13th Collection folder, and in that one I had single folders with each movie.

I know that you can merge them, but that’s not really nice, as you have to go to Play Version, and then you can chose, but it doesn’t even show the name of the movie.

Is there no other, nicer possibility?

Thanks.

You want to use the collections feature. Most movies automatically pick up their collection tag, but you can edit it. It’s the Tags tab of the item.
To use it, go to the movies library, then filter by collection. To filter, go wherever it says “All”, and change that value.

@trumpy81

That’s what I already did, Sort Title with ascending numbers 01, 02, 03… like that way they show up in the correct order at least.

I always had collections of movies in a separate folder, as I used the Mede8er, and when I was scraping the movies into Plex, I kept them that way first, but it didn’t matter to Plex, they still showed up one by one in the Plex view, and not in a separate collection folder.

You know what I mean, on the Mede8er I had a folder called (in your example) “Star Trek Collection”, so clicking on that opened it and there you had all the single folders with every Star Trek movie in your collection. That way it kept your initial folder a lot cleaner and more overseeable. You could add more trees (subfolders) to your movies, which is apparently not possible in Plex.

I have the tags, but still it’s not the way I want it, your movies still ALL show up in your initial view.

I get what you mean, but I want that on the media player end (Shield), not on my PC web interface.
