Manage a currently playing device queue from another device

It would be really useful if we could manage and send items from one device (ie phone) to another device that may already be playing something (ie shield/roku/apple tv), to add or manage the other device queue.

An example

  • play media on a device 1 (any plex client)
  • browse content on any other plex client, device 2
  • use device 2 to view and edit the play queue on device 1
  • use device 2 to add/remove additional media to device 1 queue

This would allow playing content on big screen, while queuing up content on small screen (phone/tablet/laptop/etc).

It’s already possible and called Plex Companion.

Flinging is one thing, and it’s fine and has it’s uses.

I don’t want to fling. I don’t want to move or interrupt playback.

I just want remote queue management.

Where I can seamlessly add/rearrange/remove content on a separate player.

Edit: hmmm actually it looks like I can remotely manage shield queue from tablet/phone without interruption.

Interesting. Thanks, I thought flinging was simple chrome casting

One of those sessions is about the only way to control PMP - if you don’t happen to have a Harmony laying around. Slightly irritating on my phone, but tolerable.

My Sis-In-Law, is like Robo-Chick controlling hers with her I-Pad. She’s inhuman…lol

No, Chromecasting is a different protocol (which is available on some devices as well. But CC will route the data over the casting device, while Companion does only the commands. With Companion the media data will be fetched by the controlled device, directly from the Plex Server.)
