I want to know if this is fixed because this is a huge problem for me.
I have a secondary profile for my children under the main account but I cannot manage library access to the 3rd party libraries the main profile has access to, why is this?
Managed users cannot get access to third-party shares, only libraries that are owned by the admin account.
If you want to do this then you need to create a full Plex account for each child and then you can manage access like that. These accounts can still be used in a Plex Home so they show up in your user switcher when opening the apps.
Ohhh mannnnnn… that is not the answer I wanted to hear… I do not feel that my children need to purchase a plex account purely just to access libraries… I can see why Plex has made this decision but I do feel it is a bit of a limitation because the main reason I created a second profile is so my children do not see certain movies that are for mature audiences so I cannot give them the main profile access as it would not be the right thing to do.
Hmmmmm I am not sure what to do now… any suggestions ?
The above method is not a solution for you.
Even if you make full accounts for each child, it is not you who must define what media items they can access on any shared shared servers.
It’s the owners of these server(s) who need to define what is getting shared and what is not. And update that from time to time, as the kids grow older.
To fully control yourself what media is accessible to your managed users, you would need to have all these media on your own server.
