Currently there are only 3 options for subtitle position. Top, middle or bottom. This is a huge problem if you have dedicated Home Theater, because if you set subtitles to “bottom”, half of the subtitles are on the bottom of the picture and the other half is on black bars.
If you have masking or 2.35:1 screen, you can’t use subtitles at all, because masking covers half of the text. How is this not a major issue for anyone who is watching on scope screen? The only solution is to use Plex addon via Kodi, where you can manually adjust subtitle position, but that is outdated.
This is probably not an impossibly hard feature to implement. Just give us more options like “bottom of the video” or a percentage slider, so we can manually adjust where subtitles should be located. I am talking about .SRT subtitles. .PGS subtitles don’t have this issue because they are already placed on the correct position, bottom of the video.
I am using Nvidia Shield TV, but this feature should be implemented on all versions of Plex. Desktop and Mobile included.
I don’t know where else to write. Can someone from Plex acknowledge this? This would be a MAJOR improvement for us, Home Theater users with masked scope screen. If someone can finally listen, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
