Manual Connections not working on Android

Server Version#: 1.14.0.5470
Player Version#: 8.9.2.21619

Hello,

I have a server running on my QNAP NAS and can’t connect with my phone to it. From all other devices (Win10, Roku, iPad) it works fine.
The server is not connected to my Plex account and has no internet connection as I only want to watch my content when I’m connected to my LAN.

So I installed the latest version on my OnePlus 7Pro phone, logged in with my account (Lifetime Plex Pass) and opened the advanced settings.

First I activated the network debugging…

Then I set “Allow insecure connections” to “Always”.

Then typed in the IP of my server under “Manual connections” after enabling it.

But nothing happens after that. In the log I can find the lines where I allow insecure connection. But afterwards there is nothing with the IP I’ve typed in! When I go back to the screen it still shows the IP.

Here’s the log part of the log:

Why does it say “Starting Server discovery” instead of trying to connect to the IP I’ve just entered?!?

On my server under Settings->Network I have “192.168.254.0/255.255.255.0” for “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”. So this should be good too…

thx
Soko

You will have to update your server version to at least 1.15.2.

Shhhooot… :frowning:

I cannot update my Server version as it is the last supported by toe Qnap-OS version I have. And I cannot update the Qnap OS version because its the newest one for my NAS…

The only thing I can think of is install an old Android-App version on my phone…

Is there a place here somewhere where I can download the APKs for all Android Plex Apps?

thx
Soko

At the bottom of each announcement post is a link to download the APK, drop back to the Plex for Android 8.7.2.

I am under the impression that this will be a requirement system wide soon so I would start planning on a NUC or something to be the server pointing to your QNAP for media.

Ok, this doesn’t seem to solve the issue. The log is still the same and I don’t see my shows and movies:

Any ideas?

EDIT: Tried it with v8.6.0 same result :frowning:

Plex activated two factor authentication yesterday, I wonder if there is some unintended consequences for users wishing to use the server without internet connection.

EDIT: I would log the server in to make sure it is still claimed, the sign it out. Also, when you rolled the Android client back did you uninstall it first?

Hi,

This would be really bad! I explicitly chose (and payed) Plex so the whole system doesn’t have to have an internet connection what so ever. And now this!?

The server was never claimed by an account and I’ve completely uninstalled the app before trying int again.

I’ve also installed a brand new instance of Plex Server on a Windows test machine. It seems to have the same issue: Manual Connections broken
