Manual Connections broken

Server Version#: 1.21.0.3608
Player Version#: 8.9.2.21619

Hi again,

The “Manual connections” Settings in the Android app seems to be broken as:

  • I cannot change the IP anymore once I’ve activated “Enable manual connections”, typed it in and closed the settings screens. If I press on the IP nothing happens. I have to disable and enable the “Enable manual connections” button to be able to change/set the IP address.
  • Even with a manual IP set, the app doesn’t seem to try to connect to this IP (see below)

So I did a fresh install of the Media Server on Win10 machine.

I installed the App fresh on my phone:

  • Enabled network debugging
  • Enabled Manual Connections and set IP to 192.168.254.10
  • Set “Allow insecure connections” to “Always”

The log shows the set to “Always” but doesn’t log anything about enabling Manual Connections or the IP I’ve entered:

Connecting to the Server via browser from the phone (http://192.168.254.10:32400/web/index.html) works fine.

Any ideas?
thanks
Soko

PS: I originally found this issue with an older server version and older android version (Manual Connections not working on Android) but its apparently in the current version an issue as well.

PPS: I don’t want to enable GDM. If I have to do this the “manual connections” settings are pointless!

Can you provide your entire Android app log?

Sure: (File removed)

Same workflow as before:

  • I installed the App fresh on my phone
  • Enabled network debugging
  • Enabled Manual Connections and set IP to 192.168.254.10
  • Set “Allow insecure connections” to “Always”
  • Closed the settings
  • retrieved the log

Then I left it open and pressed and refreshed a couple of times: (File removed)

Hi @ All & @anon18523487

Any progress on this.
It should also be quite easy to reproduce it by a developer as you just need two fresh installed plex (server + mobile)
thx
Soko

PS: Is there any github repository I can open an issue in (I’m a developer myself). I’ve found plex.tv on github but no repository for server or android app ?!

No. I was hoping to hear back from someone but there isn’t much to go on. Can you provide me your PMS logs so I can check if it even getting pinged by the client?

Hi,

Find the server log below. The servers IP is 192.168.254.10. The phones IP is 192.168.254.1.
I can access the browser version of the server from the phone with no problem. So it cannot be a network issue between server <-> client.

I can’t understand your “there isn’t much to go on” though…
The problem is clearly reproducible!

thx
Soko

I couldn’t reproduce. Let me check your logs.

I couldn’t reproduce.

Did you disable GDM? With GDM on it works…

Yes I did. With GDM on you wouldn’t need to specify a manual IP.
