It would be nice to also be able to add a manual network connection using an FQDN DNS name instead of the IP Address only.
You can already do exactly that.
But it will only work if you also have a fitting cryptographic certificate ‘pinned’ to that FQDN - or you’ll have to disable ‘Secure Connections’.
The ios client only allows numeric IP Address
Then you should qualify in your request that you mean the iOS client.
Why don’t you sign in your client into your Plex account? This way it will find out your server’s FQDN and/or current IP address automatically.
I’ve merged your suggestion into this existing thread (although neither you nor the op have voted for your respective suggestions).
As per Otto’s post… you should already be able to configure a custom domain in the server settings which will also be considered/respected by the client.
