Manually map HDHomeRun new "streaming" channels into Plex guide

See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YetNR_fFm3k

Specifically:
05:54 - Tuning Live HDHomerun Premium TV with Plex
06:33 - Use Plex , Channels , Emby to watch outside of the home
07:39 - Plex channel mapping issue

My question specifically is: anyone know how I can add the demo channels to the Plex guide? I have confirmed they’re available via the HDHomeRun app.

That is AFAIK tied to their own tv app.
Has nothing to do with Plex and is very likely not usable with Plex.

Obviously, you did not watch ANY of the video which showed it working with Plex.

In fact, it seems you didn’t even read the content of my post.

Please educate yourself before posting on this topic again, thank you.

The video is dated yesterday. And he is saying “soon”, which to me means “not yet”.
Apparently, he has access to a beta firmware.

All I’m asking about is how to manually update the Plex guide.

As I stated in my first post, I have the demo channels now. And they are working. I am now asking: how can they be added to the Plex guide?

Also, the video states the firmware is already rolling out; I have updated the firmware on my HDHomeRun and the demo channels ARE WORKING.

If you can’t answer the question that’s fine. Just stop arguing with a customer who has a valid question. Thank you.

They stated on the web page 3rd party integration to include Plex.

Sounds to me that Lon has used a Cable EPG and mapped the channels to the HDHomeRun Premium channels. He talks about it at 7:33.

there is a 22 page thread on the forums for HDHomerun that indicate the demo channels will not show up to plex, but once I subscribed got them all.

trying to map the channels now, having some schedule issues.

Seems to be the case, though I haven’t had a chance to verify it myself yet. Which is a bummer I would kinda like to see the demo channels working through Plex before actually handing over money to try it.

It seems Plex do not consider third party applications like this to be a priority. The folks over at Channels already have their guide and a Beta DVR working for their clients, they were on it in a flash. Even as a Plex Pass member I am thinking of switching to them because they’re more communicative and aware of what’s going on.
Having said all that, do you guys at Plex have any idea when you’ll have a fix ? I know there’s a work around thanks to the amazing Lon, but I don’t want to go there, as I will lose some of the OTA channels (.2,.3,.4 etc).
Thanks for taking the time to read my feedback.

Channels pulls their epg directly from hdhomerun…it’s been two days let’s chill slightly

Ahhh thank you. That would explain them being on it so fast. Clearly there’s more work involved to get this to work with Plex.

this is the internet, we don’t chill

Wonder how to do that, would think you could parse the XML data out of it with a couple of wgets every few hours

Check this out: [Howto] Receive channels from multiple lineups? Want to Support OTA+Cable? Instructions to build XMLTV files with combined lineups

I wrote the howto above for my personal use case (which is ota+cable) but I’m hopeful it should work with Premium too!

The only real drawback is the bug where a ton of shows like news and sports all show up as Movies.

It does require you to use a 3rd party guide data source though…

I can confirm that premium channels are not showing on plex. I just joined hdhomerun premium tv service I can see the channels if I use their app, but plex is not getting the channels. I removed the DVR from plex and added it again like Lon suggested and I’m still getting only OTA.
