Hi

Please could you provide a link to download the 64bit version?

Regards
Alex

Similar problem
DSM 5.2
32 bit downloaded
‘this package is not supported on the platform of My-Server-name’

DS3615xs
The last update (maybe a week ago?) was fine, deleted, so no idea of file name.
tried both the 32bit and 64 bit versions - both get the same error message

Moderator Edit:
Link removed. Please use the downloads page

Click on ‘download now’ of message saying there is an update, gives this link:
https://plex.tv/downloads/latest/1?channel=16&build=linux-synology-i686&distro=synology&X-Plex-Token=nn
downloaded file is
PlexMediaServer-1.13.4.5271-200287a06-x86.spk

Looks like I am in a catch22 situation - can’t install the 32bit version - I have a 64bit NAS; I can’t install the 64bit version until I upgrade from DSM 5.2 to 6.x
At the moment, don’t want to upgrade my DSM, no way to back up 14TB of data and don’t want the risk of loss during the upgrade!

thanks for your help & advice

I’m in the same situation as the OP. Have a DS3615xs system on DSM 5.2, and all of the released Plex packages no longer support it (tried them all). Upgrading DSM to 6.0 isn’t an option right now.

Thanks for breaking things…

Usually major DSM upgrade breaks just about everything else (besides not touching your data). Shares, permissions, apps/packages, etc

I have the same problem with you, how do you solve it?

Upgrading DSM does not touch the volume.

You can, which I’ve done many times, completely reset and reinstall DSM without touching the data. (there is a very well written Synology procedure for this about how many ‘beeps’ of the reset button to count).

If you’re really worried, make a backup of your DSM configuration.

I’ve never heard of anyone losing their data volume(s) upgrading from 5.2 to 6.x… and there are many folks here who started in the DSM 5.x days. I started with DSM 4.3 and never lost one yet by following Synology’s instructions

Updated DSM to 6.1
64 bit Plex installed and running
whew!

Hi All, like a few people I guess, including OldFart above I have been happily running Plex on my Synology DSM 5.2 DS3615xs … I’ll be honest its actually running Xpenology on a PC with a quad core processor so Transcoding works really well. So due to the build I’ve been happy running Plex for a number of years and have been running on my fake Sinology for just over 2 years. Plex 1.13.2.5154 is very happy but last two updates don’t run as not supported. Plex 1.13.4x no longer installs 32bit on 64 bit machine. 64 bit needs to be on DSM6.x. … Plex, can you allow 32bit install on 64 bit machine for the number of users who have bespoke builds who don’t want to rebuild as everything else works fine (or is there a work around)?

@mrandyburns

For as much as I’d like to be liberal with what is allowed, I can’t be. DSM 6.2. Update 2 made a hard distinction between 32 and 64 bit processors. Since there is a partner agreement between Plex and Synology, we must comply with their wishes to support their hardware the way they want it configured.

Having run XPEnology myself, I understand your’re faced with read-only copies of /dev/synobios, synoboot, synoboot1, and synoboot2 images because of how they’ve been taken from the proprietary hardware to open source.

Our hands are quite tied in this matter. What I did find for you which is likely to help

Hi ChuckPA … just what the doctor ordered! Will take the plunge and try the new boot loader (making sure I backup everything first!!) Box of tissues ready just in case it all goes horribly wrong. Thanks for your help so far and thanks for a great product.

I’d like to learn more about a fake synology. Can you message me some links for me to read? thanks!

because of the Plex/ Synology partnership, May I request discussions about XPEnology be redirected to the XPE forums please?

I just set up an NAS, and am having the same issues as OP. When attempting to install manually, I am receiving the following message:

This package is not supported on the platform of Diskstation or is incompatible with current DSM version

Heres my Setup:

  • NAS - Synology DS418
  • DSM version- DSM 6.2-23739 Update 2
  • Plex - PlexMediaServer-1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8-x86_64

This is my first attempt with NAS, so I’d appreciate some ELI5 help, heh.

The Scikit help

The DS418 doesn’t have the same CPU so not the same issue I’m afraid

The DS418 (model name accuracy required) is a RealTek RTD1296 CPU , not an X86_64 CPU.

If you take a look over in the Alpha Testing area, you’ll find the Alpha Test package you’re looking for.

Awesome, thanks! Like I said, this is all new to me, and a little hand holding would certainly go a long way.
