Some suggestions.
1 A back button to the previous page.
2 State movies that are on the top 10 for each actor that are not on the list.
3 Categories filter with multiple things like to show a Japanese comedy & action & highest rated order, etc.
4 easy shortcut adjustment keys.
5 speed up/slow down which can be done on the browser with video speed controller. but plex messes it up at times to put the speed to ZERO.
6 highlight movies that you want to put settings on as a bulk like change language for the first option.
7 have it so simple that old people can use it and not bother me every time.
8 shortcut keys at the bottom bar.
9 to go straight to your plex without logging in. you make it sound like i log in though a public computer that I need it which sheesh put it in the settings if that is the case.
10 have plex movies select sub titles from a link which if I upload the same old movie it has that option but plex official movies does not?
11 Link to imdb, and the other things you suggest.
12 show the sequal to the movie or movie similar with the same actors or name.
13 Buffer more of the file to download more just in case the server crashes as it usually does.
14 for the slider to view the images to be even smaller.
15 more shortcut buttons like add other language sub next to the play / pause bar menu.

Total amount of movies as of today on Plex is how much? While others have

1 - If you mean for Plex Web, your browser already has a back button. Why have another?
2 - Where would this info come from?
3 - You can make your own collections for anything you want. There are also custom filters in Plex Web if you haven’t seen those.
4 - shortcuts to what?
5 - I don’t get why you would want to watch a video at a different speed. But there is a request for this.
6 - You can bulk edit movies. You can’t change the language because that comes from the file and you need to change it in the file. PMS does not alter your original files.
7 - This goes against all your other request since those would make it more complicated.
8 - Again, shortcuts to what?
9 - You can. All Plex client shave the option to automatically sign in. You just need to enable it.
10 - If you are referring to the ad supported Movies and TV Shows, nope, can’t be done. This would break agreements with the providers.
11 - I believe there is a request for this.
12 - You can do this with collections. We do show “more movies from xxx” at the bottom of a movie. This is dynamic so the actor listed can change.
13 - This depends on the client and if the file is being direct played or transcoded.
14 - Not sure I’ve seen a request for this.
15 - Again shortcuts to what?

Apples and oranges. Plex is not a streaming service like these other companies and doesn’t charge for these movies. These are ad-supported. You also look at the number of subscribers.

Netflix >150 million
Amazon >100 million
Disney+ >50 million

Plex isn’t anywhere near these numbers.

Notice how plex library movies dont have foreign subs to select while if you upload your own version it has the option. It makes plex useless and youtube fee videos more user friendly for that. But youtube sucks that it doesnt have the option for default language and default sub selection.

How old is this program? does it have designers making the interface or programmers that think they are designers?

Some are slight variations which i know plex wont do anyway. people can take what they will and post it. I am not a movie buff but I am evaluating it as a practical thing.

vote? people dont even understand what I am saying as stated below that assumes another. Maybe this is best for suggestion for people to think about to present it well. Every time i search for help on the site it has none so why bother doing it 15 times more. No one could have helped with auto subs to find solution which I assume plex is broken since many felt it works.

arent you thinking creatively negatively on positive suggestions to make it better. How about this for a solution stagnation dont change everything and make it more basic. :slight_smile:

1 NO it does not work on the program and the browser loses its place completely. I have to open up multiple windows which which makes it go out of hand.

2 IMDB Just like how the rating on the side (oddly sometimes) comes form IMDB
3 No & again IMDB has it. Its not hard to extract the into since plex did a lot of impressive things already so some basic things wont be harder.

4 to certain options like speed up, sub on, sub select, etc
5 I watch everything fast even youtube at 2x by default if the person can speak clearly. You can watch it at 1/2 the speed if you like. A lot fo boring parts in films. Even if the video goes 10% faster its not noticeable for most and a 10 hour video you save 1 hour. As i said i dont watch movies much and waste of time and people waste their lives away to consume others things slowly than do their own thing.

6 Well that is the point to edit what you want. Bulk edit the first sub title on the list by default which would help greatly which if their are the few that are off then select.

7 NO since this caters to other types of people. Again different themes for different people.

8 have the option to select what buttons you want with 1 click than 2 or 5 clicks. Example select first sub on list. 1 click better than 3 clicks with aiming to it. This is basic things. If anything why not hide the play button behind 5 sub option if you feel that is convenient which obviously its not. obviously i am being sarcastic. :slight_smile:

9 other programs suggestion it when you do the action and most will not find it. unless people in the forum like to answer questions that they can never answer.

13 youtube allowed me to buffer a entire movie at times if I play it all fast and then replay it. but annoying that i have to play it once to play it again.

plex has a list of movies just like youtube has a list of free movies.

This info is to help plex refocus how to better itself. I still prefer movies on youtube due to speed and convenience. Maybe this site should link to youtube to help with movie search in its library as aggregator.

1 - Plex Web use to have a back button but it would do the same thing as your browser. So if your browser’s back button isn’t working, you might have a problem with your browser and Plex’s button wouldn’t help.

2 - I couldn’t find that info in IMDB. Either way, IMDB does not share that information. Not sure if you are aware but IMDB does not have a public API that can be used to get data from their site. The info Plex has for matching movies is through a special agreement made with IMDB, which only includes move data. IMDB is very protective of their data, which is understandable.

6 - So you want to override the language from the file and be able to set your own?

7 - Themes is something that is being considered for the future.

I have no idea what that is or how that relates.

That’s not a rating. That’s how often a term is searched for using Alexa. So yes people are searching for Plex less. Not sure that relates to anything.

YouTube doesn’t allow that. The same has been requested for other sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google Movies, iTunes, etc. It’s not up to Plex.

1 I press the backspace button but ok back arrow it is then which seems to work.

No advanced search at any time which I saw it once which was limited.

IMBD has more info at the bottom which can de extracted easily. I see plex extracted the description of the movie word for word so it can do the rest. Plex did a lot of impressive things and it can do more.

under Details which has a lot of info from sound, language, region, box office gross, even technical specs, etc.

Even at the top of IMDB states more of type of movie it is while plex only says 2 like comedy and action and ignore the rest as stated from IMDB.

5 they dont even explain it right and plex will impliment it 1/2 ass just like youtube does. Which is why video speed controller plugin is better tha youtubes default minimal selection. with a click of a button you can change the speed. And for me to reply in the long comment will get buried. Seems like if they do implement then put another post in how to improve it. And to be asked for since 2014??? LOL 6 years later and nothing so no point if requesting so might as well go to default browser.

6 to have by default sub on and default sub language on. I asked about it and moderator said it can be done or maybe he did not understand since it still does not work as stated here. Or maybe plex is glitched or it can not do it. Seriously most people use this program outside of the country and they will have to do it for every video they select makes no sense. give it to an old person and they will not do since they will find it too confusing despite we get it and to annoying for them which i should know i had to show someone over 20 times and they still refuse to. 10 meaning that if I select a movie from plex it wont allow sub search while if i upload it allowed sub search. Even youtube free movie section has them all with every subtitle in every language so its better to see it in youtube. For example the movie journey to the west if free for plex and youtube but youtube is better has more features.

I am saying to let people choose since a lot of its audience is not from English speaking countries as shown.

and when i mean flat in searches when people search for plex online it did not gain popularity to increase but flat within the years as the searches show.

I was on this site months ago and left since I was not impressed. Now if I am not think of what others will think which is why its not getting as much popularity. It does not present itself well. It does not showcase the best most popular movies or maybe it did not have any. Or maybe I dont care for movies much and its just me LOL then if that is the case never mind.
Alexa also shows how much traffic the site has which went down. Even during lockdown netflix went up and plex about stayed the same, That should say something. This is not an insult to plex but something to see what its faulting on to improve since if the trend continues it wont get better which is why request form 6 years ago not being done since maybe the site feels why bother.

It wont allow a basic search to other sites? all search engines search other sites. but if you say it cant be done ok.

The only way for plex to improve fast is with healthy competition for plex to try and beat the other.

2 - It is not allowed to extract data from IMDB’s website. Doing so can get you banned. Plex actually has an agreement to use their data.

6 - It does work but your file must have the audio stream labeled with the correct language. For example, I have anime files with Japanese audio. My preferred language is English and I have it set to use subtitles for foreign audio. Playing the anime file, PMS sees the Japanese audio so it automatically turns on the English subtitle. If your audio track isn’t labeled then PMs sees it as unknown so it does not automatically pick the subtitle since it does not treat that as foreign.

So pay is only for 1 account since whats the point of a press pass if you cant have others in the family see it. They dont have access to not mess it up by accident. That feature does not make sense.

also when you asked what is the point of speed up or slow down well when in sub words can go fast and slow down helps to play it below the normal speed.

Any way to assign the shortcut keys to a different button or remove? to remove the 2 [ ] ?

I don’t understand your issue with the subtitles. If your videos has subtitles embedded in them, you don’t need the search feature. That’s to look for subtitles from Opensubtitles.org. Subtitles you provide should already appear. If they don’t then you’ve got another issue.

If you do see them, but they aren’t automatically being selected for you, does it
1 - have the subtitle labeled as your preferred subtitle language
2 - have the audio labeled as your preferred audio language
3 - enabled these preferred languages under your account settings
