This has been reported before by someone else BUG: Marking Item As Unplayed Marks Item As Played but did not get any response, as a consequence I would like to raise this issue again, as it exists over 6 months now.
On android devices (tablet, phones, tvs and tv boxes) marking an item (movie/series) as unplayed, marks it as played.
I just checked and it’s working correctly for me on both mobile and my Shield. Can you reproduce and provide exact steps then get me the android log so I can see.

I also recorded my phone as well for you to see how it looks. Plex dash shows them as played as well.

My server is running on generic-hwe-18.04 ubuntu . Plex is running latest Plex Docker.
Shield TV and android on phone a (samsung s9+) run latest apps on app store. This issue has been going more than 6 months now. Tried also on tablets, and other android tv boxes. Also a friend of mine on his plex server, his android devices have the same issue, so I am bit surprised it does not show for you.
Ah ok. I can reproduce with “mark as unplayed” from the overflow menu (that’s the menu when you long press). I will file this with the team.
