When you watch an episode of a show or movie on a certain device, then leave it half watched lets say. Afterwards you finish it on another device, that media will remain half watched forever on all devices not matter what, unless you go back to the original device that started it all and close it from there.
So now, I’m on vacation, my original device is at my place, and I cannot remove this freaking episode from the queue until I come back next month. Ridiculous.
If I mark anything as watched, I’d expect to be marked as watch EVERYWHERE.
This usually happens if you leave the item in a “paused” state on a plex client somewhere, instead of stopping the playback. This client may from time to time send its current playback position to your server, becaue technically, it is still “playing” the item.
In the case of the web app (and “Plex for Desktop”) this means clicking on the
icon so that the player bar vanishes from the bottom of the page.
But it can also happen on other client types.
Yeah, I deducted that explanation from the situation I was in. Yet, that does not resolve the issue. IMHO, if I forcely mark as played an episode or movie, it should stay that way regardless where else is being played, I would like to think that I’m manually overriding any other automatic input.
Another related unwanted behaviour occurs when playing something on a Chrome window, and I have at all times another 3 open windows (not tabs) on my computer; so minimizing what is being played on 1 window automatically appears on the other 3… just why?? Then, I’ve to manually close the other 3 because when I finish watching the video on the original one, the other 3 remain stuck where I minimized the play. And this is extremely annoying at this point.
