Similar to the “Replace lower resolution items” option in the advance record options, but this could be a manual toggle of an item that needs to be replaced. An example could include an episode that started late /ended early, or maybe the commercial deletion was incorrect. Once an episode is marked, the next airing of the same episode would be recorded to replace it.
I suspect your suggestion is already covered by these existing proposals.
