Mark shows watched when added, different per profile

Mark shows watched when added, different per profile. so if I add a show for someone on 1 profile and I don’t want to watch it. I can Mute that said show or set it to get marked watched when ever a that new episode of the show gets added.

I’m not sure if I understand what exactly you’re aiming for. Are you looking for an option to ignore shared shows/episodes from showing up in certain hubs (or the library) if you’re not interested in them?

Marking a show as “watched” if you’re not interested in it is the wrong choice.
Because if you do that, Plex will always place newly added episodes of that show into your Continue Watching hub.

You can already mark shows to get ignored and remove them from this hub.

so If I am looking at the tv show library unwatched. and I have let say blues clues, and I don’t want to watch blues clues.
I setup a separate profile/account on my Plex server for my kids and they want to watch all the blues clues as well as new ones.

I would like to be able to mark any new blues clues episodes watched automatically so then that show doesn’t show up in my unwatched tv show library.

maybe there is a different better way to handle this process.

Have you considered creating a separate managed user for yourself and simply not to “share” that show with that user?

You could move all the kiddy stuff into a separate library. And then choose not to pin this library to the side bar in your user account.

how do I not share that show specificlly. Libraries I have shared.
TV Shows
Movies
Music

You can use a sharing label and either configure the managed user to only share items with a specific label or exclude specific labels from sharing.

hmm I think we are close. but I don’t think I want to block access to the specific show entirely. just want to mark it watched as new episodes arrive.

then your best shot is to follow Otto’s suggestion and to move those shows in a separate “kid’s shows” library – you can then unpin that library from your sidebar and won’t be bothered by new episodes.

that’s at least getting you closer to your use case than marking all current/future episodes as watched (no offense).

ya OK, that’s kinda what I was thinking. this would be a handy feature. I don’t think I would be the only one. Thanks for your help.
