By this I mean automatically tag new episodes as watched when they are added.
The scenario is that I use Plex for myself and wife then I have accounts for my children. As and when new episodes are added of say Paw Patrol it appears on all our accounts as a new episode to watch. This is great for the kids but as myself and my wife have no interest in watching Paw Patrol so we don’t want it on the unwatched episodes list, this then falls to myself to go around and start marking each new episode of the different kids shows as watched by our main account.
Periodically I go through and mark certain shows as watched for us, but it would be nice to find an automated way for us to ignore certain shows that still give me full admin control of the shows but saves them appearing as something to watch.
Is there a solution within Plex or what do others do to achieve this?

Though it doesn’t help the situation fully and certainly will not stop episodes showing as recently added, I imagine each new episode is also showing “On Deck” in your account?
I imagine the best solution would be to mark the whole show as unwatched rather than keep marking new episodes at watched.
It should then at least stop the new episodes appearing in your “On deck”
Yes that would stop new episodes appearing on the deck, its not exactly a solution but it is probably how Plex is “supposed” to be used.
It would just be nice to have the option to hide or ignore certain shows, obviously I still need control of them within the server, but on our player account I have no interest in the shows.
I guess the only other option would be to actually make a new account for myself and my wife and only show the shows I have an interest in to ourselves, but this again create a load more work.
You can only really do that by library. If you have a separate libraries of your kids shows/movies, you can just not pin those kids libraries to the home screen for your account. If a library is not pinned to the home screen side bar it’s content won’t be part of the Recently Added Movies/TV or other hubs on home screen.
In the future we hope to possibly have more customizable hubs but I don’t have an ETA for that.
Thanks for coming back to me and letting me know. Look forward to the possibility in the future. Hopefully its not too far in the distant future, otherwise no doubt the kids will be managing the library themselves and they will be controlling what I’m allowed to watch! haha
I doubt Plex would add a feature to hide things for the admin. Your best option is to create another user and share your non-kid content with that and keep your admin account solely for managing the server.
