Hi All,
I use my Shield Pro + HDD as my Plex server and playing back files directly to the TV (HDMI) works perfectly.
I also stream these files to a Chromecast W/Google TV and to 2X Sony/Android TV’s.
I have noticed some files stuttering on these other networked devices and in nerd settings huge amounts of dropped frames. It feels like the problem is more prevalent in some (but not all) of older files downloaded. Newer files encoded by myself in Handbrake are all flawless so far.
I figure it was an authoring/container thing so tried re-containerizing a handful of files in MKV Toolnix putting them back on the server, clearing cache in Plex. Some of them now play smoothly, others zero change which baffles me?
Speed tests on all devices show about 50mbps and I have played back 30+mbps files via usb on these TV’s. The problem files are low bitrate 2.5mbps files, should do it easily.
I feel like this is a fairly new issue. I don’t watch these old files daily on the networked devices but feel I would have noticed. Kids are starting to use them more so reared it;s head.
Driving me nuts, I can’t find any trend to the files that do and don’t work. Any help would be great.
