I really like the new .plexmatch format for TV Series. Is there any plans to add a similar format for movies? Or will the only supported way to do it with curly braces in the folder and filename as described in the article here?
It would be nice to have a method more consistent across movie and tv show collections, and not have to intrude so heavily on existing file structures. I’m just curious if it’s currently in the pipeline or worth making a feature request for?
You can already use the curly bracket approach on tv-shows too.
The new mode goes deeper as it allows you to specify which file is which episode. I guess that’s a use case that only applies to tv-shows but not movies 
IIRC there’s still the alternative approach of having a .nfo file with the same name as your movie. While Kodi uses those files to store/read the metadata of a movie, Plex will only read the IMDb reference.
This would be very helpful for those like me that like prefer to keep original file names
