Please make .plexmatch files available for movies as well

If I add {tmdbid-XXXXXX} and {edition-XXXXXX} to the movie folder name and file name, it becomes too long. Especially when using the Windows operating system, there are cases where characters exceed the Windows character limit, making it very inconvenient to manage files.
Please make .plexmatch files available for movies as well.

Only add it to one of these. Preferably the folder name should be sufficient.

But you should really check the folder structure of your media storage. It sounds as if you have an unnecessarily deep structure, or needlessly verbose folder names.

There is an old feature in Plex, which could work for you:
A text file in the same folder as the video file, with the file name extension .nfo which contains the IMDb ID (e.g. “tt0499549”) of the movie will be used for matching.
(only the IMDb ID will work, there is no need to use curly brackets or the word “imdb”)

Even if the folder name and file name are in a format such as AAA (2024) {tmdb-1111}/AAA (2024).mp4, if non-English letters or numbers are used, the movies often do not match properly. However, in the case of TV programs, perfect matching was possible using the .plexmatch file.
For this reason, I hope that .plexmatch files can be applied to movies as well.

Is the media storage inside your Windows Plex server machine? Or is it mounted over the network?
Because I have no issues with non-ASCII letters and matching. I only see reports such as yours if a non-Windows file server is used. And even these can work just fine if they have been configured correctly.
(On Linux-based file servers/NAS devices, it most likely has something to do with the “locale” of the operating system and some connected settings in the SAMBA server.)

It is mounted over the network.

However, my suggestion is that I would like .plexmatch to be supported for movies as well, so please focus on this.
So, we ask that users be able to use folder and file names more freely as they wish.
Other solutions are good, but I don’t think they can be a better fundamental solution than using .plexmatch.
