Funny interaction. I have a file called s01e03.2020.mkv. This matches to a movie called s01e03 : S01E03 (2020) - IMDb
It’s matching to the third episode of a random TV show, is there any way to manually make it match to this movie? It’s not appearing in the Match modal that pops up to search for a movie title.
Change the file name, so that it no longer conforms to Plex’s naming schema for tv show episodes.
Side note: always enclose the release year in parentheses.
I’d try Season01Episode03 (2020) - {imdb-tt12261772}.mkv
Adding the imdb code is telling Plex to basically ignore the file name and match it directly to the IMDb ID.
I know this is fixed, but I have a question. Since this MUST be a movies library (by the fact that it worked)… How did Plex auto-match this episode to a random TV Show episode? I thought that Movie libraries ignored TV-Show format files. At the very least, it should never match automatically to a random TV Show, and pull metadata for an episode in it… Should it?
Ah, I thought you’d have mentioned that Plex would match the episode to a random show in the TV Show library, but it failed to show up as a movie in the movie library.
I used to have a mixed-media “NEW STUFF” folder, way back when I started using Plex. I couldn’t think of a way to implement it into Plex, so I gave up on it. Using the “Recently added” hubs in each movie/show library ended up being perfect for my purpose of calling attention to new stuff I acquired without it vanishing into the bottomless pit that is my collection.
If you can get it to work, that’s fine by me. I was just so confused there, wondering if my knowledge of Plex’s workings was off.
