Meaning of Remote Access green check mark ?

I have always thought that when “Remote Access” on the “Server Settings” page had a green circle with check mark that this meant your server was accessible from the WAN. At times I am seeing the green check mark but at the same time it say “Not available outside your Network”. If I select “Enable Remote Access” there is a quick unreadable flash of the window being repainted but the window remains the same. That is green check mark and “Not available…”. Also, it does not allow me to select the “Manually specify public port”, which would seem to confirm that Plex believes that “Remote Acess” is disabled despite there being a green check mark.

Please see the image below:

Please note that the Public ip address and port are visible on the screen. I edited them out for security.

Any thoughts or comments?

Green is good to Go. Red is the STOP.

Please do as I write here (I’m asking this of all with remote access issues as there might be a bigger issue)

I am working with another team member to identify all cases with remote access problems.

We would like the following from each affected person. Please do this in precisely the order stated here.

WITH THE SERVER COMPLETELY IDLE (No streaming)

  1. Settings - Server - Remote Access - Disable remote access
  2. Settings - Server - General - Verbose Logging
  3. Settings - Server - General - Save Settings
  4. Settings - Server - Remote Access - Enable
  5. Observe it turn Green and return to Red OR attempt and then fail
  6. Screenshot this condition. Obfuscate (scratch out) your public IP
  7. Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs
  8. Settings - Server - General - UNcheck Verbose Logging
  9. Settings - Server - General - Save Settings
  10. Attach your logs to your next post
