I have had to re-add multiple TV show episodes (the same ones) over and over as it appears they are being deleted. I can’t confirm that Plex is the culprit for sure but I don’t know what other service would be causing this.
Where in the logs would media deletion show up so I can confirm?
Your Plex server may be deleting the files. There’s a setting in the server settings that you need to make sure is unchecked. Go to Settings -> Library -> and make sure “Allow Media Deletion” is unchecked.
Maybe you are running the DVR-enabled beta version of Plex?
I know it has some features to delete content after it has been watched. But I don’t know any details. You might wanna take this question into the DVR beta subforum.

I think you may be onto something. I am indeed using the DVR Beta and I do have those shows set to delete after watching. However my DVR content is in a completely separate Library (DVR) from the content that is being deleted (TV) which is why I hadn’t considered that. However, in just reviewing those recordings they set to Never delete.
I’ve removed those shows from the recording schedule and still the same episodes are being deleted no matter how many times I re-add them. Is there somewhere in the logs I can see if Plex is def. the culprit?

I did. Nothing but crickets. I’ve even since deleted my HDHomerun from the DVR settings so there is no recording device. Still the episodes are being removed. At this point I guess I’m going to have to try and upgrade to the latest PMS release which will delete my DVR options. I can’t have this where I have certain episodes that are just not playable on Plex because they keep getting deleted.
You didn’t answer the question on if you have it set to allow media to be deleted? If so, could it be someone else has access a client that uses your login, so they are deleting it without telling you?

Absolutely no one other than me and no device outside of my home other than my smartphone has access to my login.
While the “Allow Media Deletion” option had been turned on in the past for my account, I turned it off immediately after I started troubleshooting this issue. I’ve since re-added the missing episodes 6-8 times since than and they’ve been deleted every day. And furthermore, I don’t put any stock in the fact that the exact same episodes (which I’m manually re-adding every day) are disappearing within 24 hours every single day and it’s a manual exercise by an individual.
We’re not talking just recent episodes here. We are talking episodes that go weeks back and in one show’s case, 2-3 seasons.
Ok, just checking. So far I haven’t been able to reproduce this. Can you add these files again? This time take note of the modified date/time for the directory. Later when you notice the files are gone, check the date/time again. It should indicate when the folder last changed, hopefully it will be when the files got deleted. If you have the PMS logs that cover that time period, it should have info if PMS is the one that deleted the files.

Whoops, didn’t mean to mark your post as answered.
Will do. Right now the directory shows a modified date of 8:01am Saturday morning. I will re-add the two missing episodes from that season folder now and then monitor any changes.

Turns out it was the Plex DVR Beta 3 release that was deleting my media. I removed the beta and moved up to the latest Plex Pass PMS release and all is well. I’m going to have to wait for a more mature version of the DVR Beta before I test it again because I can’t have it deleting media in libraries separate from where my DVR recording are being placed.
