Media Keys No Longer Work on iPad with Logitech K480 Keyboard After iPadOS Update

Hi Plex Support,

I’m experiencing an issue where media keys (play/pause, skip, etc.) on my external Bluetooth keyboard (Logitech K480) no longer work with the Plex app on my iPad. This functionality used to work reliably in previous versions of iPadOS.

After updating to a recent version of iPadOS (e.g., iPadOS 18.4), the media keys now fail to control playback in the Plex app. They still function properly in other apps like Apple Music and YouTube, so the issue appears to be specific to Plex.

I’ve tried the following:

  • Reconnecting the keyboard
  • Reinstalling the Plex app
  • Testing media keys in other apps (they work)
  • Trying the Plex web app in Safari (keyboard works better there)

It seems like the Plex iPad app may no longer be registering for media key input under the updated iPadOS media session API. Could this be looked into or updated?

This is fixed in the current beta v 2025.16.0.

Thank you for answering. where can I get the beta version for Ipad? the appstore still have 2025.15.0

2025.16.0 was supposedly released 22 hours ago to the app store, might be waiting on Apple to publish it. Plex for Mobile (Android & iOS) - #9 by PlexReleaser
