Morning,
Just installed Plex a fresh on Docker (was via openmediavault plugin, which was out of date). Let it regenerate the config directory so I had a clean starting point.
Since then, I seem to be plagued by issues that I am struggling to diagnose, looking for some pointers to hopefully get things working again:
- Can’t play any video file via browser (Chrome, IE, various PCs). Just opens the artwork for that TV show / movie and then stalls. The media DOES play via the Android app and Samsung TV app however. When trying to play media via a browser, I can’t see anything happen via “top” on SSH session, or in the Plex dashboard “now playing”
- Thumbnails are not being generated for “other” videos (home films / media), all folders / files just show blank. On first setup, Plex did spend a long time scanning these folders, so looked like it was doing something!
- DVR features do not work anywhere, Andoird or browser, I just get “This live TV session has ended”. This happens for recordings and livetv. Can tune via the HDHomeRun app on Windows no problem, have latest firmware on my HDHomeRun Connect etc
What I have tried
- Re-created the docker container from scratch, tried the linuxserver version first, now swapped to the official plex one
- Checked permissions of the folders Plex has access to, Plex user matches the UID/GID passed in the container parameters
- Edited the folder setting under “Settings > Transcoder” to “/transcode” to match that passed from docker
