Docker - Live TV - Playback error. This live TV session has ended

I purchased the plex pass subscritption so I would make use of my Home Run Connect device to stream live TV. I was able to setup the device fine and downloaded the local guide for me. But, I get an error that says

Playback error This live TV session has ended

I get this error regardless of which channel I select (I have 52 channels) The Home Run Connect device works fine on its own so I know the channels and antenna are all working fine.

Version 1.15.8.1198 - deployed on Ubuntu via docker

If I install plex server on my Mac and add my Home Run DVR device it works correctly.

In docker container, running env command on the command line shows TZ=America/New_York which is correct. A date command also shows the correct date/time.

How can I go about debugging this issue? This was the sole reason I purchased the pass subscription.

What is the hardware where the docker container is deployed? It could be a problem with not enough horsepower where it is deployed.

Open the Plex web interface for your docker instance, and go to the Plex Dashboard. When you try to start Live TV, watch for your Live TV session to appear in the “Now Playing” section and look to see if it is trying to do transcoding for that session. You may have to click on a “Show Details” icon in the upper right of the now playing section after the session has started. If it is transcoding, then look at the CPU usage on that instance to see if it is maxed.

It probably isn’t a client or bandwidth problem to the client since you say it works from your Mac, but if your client (what is the playing client?) is on wifi then try wiring it in to remove that variable.

It’s a intel NUC 2820 dual-core 2.4Gz 16GB memory

When I try to play a live TV stream nothing comes up in the Dashboard Now playing at all. I get the error before that point.

The error “This live TV session has ended” seems to suggest an issue with time zones or something maybe???

You probably gave up and stayed with the MAC but just to answer.

This NUC is a little underpowered for “Live” TV, it would probably handle recording shows just fine. If all your clients couldn’t natively play(decode) MPEG2 it would start transcoding to H.264 which is a little more than your cpu can handle.
