Media Server disappeared overnight

Today when I tried to access my Plex server from the app, I noticed it was completely missing. No libraries were showing up, and my server didn’t even appear in the settings. I run my media server on a Synology NAS as a docker image via the built-in Container Manager app with a Watchtower container which updates it automatically, so maybe it updated automatically and caused the issue, I don’t know.

In any case, when I couldn’t figure out how to fix it myself by stopping and starting it and trying to figure out if any of the errors in the logs were relevant, I searched the issue and found other people had had similar issues that they were able to resolve by deleting the “preferences.xml” file and re-claiming their server, so I tried to do this myself, but when I clicked the “Claim Server” button, it would hang and then eventually fail.

I searched around and found other people had this issue too, which they resolved by opening up the plex app in another browser to do the claim, so I tried this myself, but I wasn’t even to sign in, because it hangs after I put in my credentials for my google account.

So I’m out of ideas and I’m hoping someone can give me something to work with. Thank you in advance for your help!

I’m still looking at the logs to try and find something that seems possibly relevant, and I saw this:

It’s a DNS issue. It’s always DNS.

Set the NAS DNS to use a public DNS provider, preferably CloudFlare (1.1.1.1), or alternatively Google (8.8.8.8).
