I am having issues claiming my plex media server after a migration of data from a Synology DSM 214 to a 224+. I successfully migrated the data to new drives, installed Plex Media Server on the new NAS and have taken the old drive off the network.Plex set up my media libraries ok but a persistent error message about claiming my media server continues to haunt me because I cannot seem to do this. Here is what I have tried, although you can probably tell, am not that tech savvy:
Deleted old devices (both PC and old NAS which had plex media servers) - no luck
Deleted Plex Media Server app on new NAS and reinstalled after booting down NAS completed - no luck
cleared browser cache/data
opened PMS in Incognito web browser - no luck
NAS is hard wired to home network and wireless laptop is on the correct network. Can somebody please help?
you have DNS issues Jan 12, 2025 12:08:12.742 [139899418897208] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#d] HTTP error requesting GET https://plex.tv/api/v2/release_channels?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxe host name) (Could not resolve host: plex.tv)
I’m going to pin this post.
I was on the verge of a very long post with many, many screenshots. Digging into my router settings revealed a conflict in DNS settings that goofed with PMS installation, giving me the old “could not complete dialog with plex” error. Once I fixed that, the install and Claim Token went off without a hitch. I am practically crying with relief.
