Media Server failure to restart after computer lost power

Server Version#:
Player Version#:
Hello and thanks in advance for any assistance. I’m running Linux Mint 21 and had a power outage. When the PC restarted, the Plex Media Server is not available. I ran
sudo systemctl start plexmediaserver and received the message:

Failed to start plexmediaserver.service: Unit plexmediaserver.service has a bad unit file setting.
See system logs and ‘systemctl status plexmediaserver.service’ for details.

The system log message says in part:
Error in command line:the argument for option ‘–serverUuid’ should follow immediately after the equal sign

I am pretty much an entire novice with Linux so not sure where to go from here. I tried renaming the two databases “com.plexapp.plugins.library.db” and “com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db” to an earlier version since one of the threads I saw suggested the database may been corrupted. No good. I am hoping I don’t have to do a complete reinstall of the media server - thanks.

Mint is not a supported distro – largely for reasons like this.

While it may be pretty and nice as a workstation environment , it’s not durable.

There are too many cases where Mint fails without warning or reason.

Recommendation:

  • Start over with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS desktop (24.04 is too new. – No bug fixes yet)
  • Get a UPS for the Plex server. You don’t need much. (server & media drives/nas)
