From the looks of it you’re using the folder structure of Apple Music(?). There seem to be some stuck files in the Automatically add to Music/iTunes folder (subfolder: Not added) that are causing this crash.
I don’t think a regular file should cause this – so it might be interesting what Apple Music added to that folder. Apparently Apple Music also wasn’t able/willing to process those files.
About 6+ hours later, this seems to have done the trick in my case. thanks!
and yes, i use my apple music library as a plex music library, and vice versa. interestingly, there were only a select few MP3 and M4A files in the “Not added” folder, but they seem to be full-sized files that for some reason don’t even render in the mac os finder.
Just a little heads-up. Deleting the audio files that popped up in the logs indeed seems to have solved the crashes. No interruption thus far since ~2 days (fingers crossed).
Ok here are my logs, I’ve attached two, one is when PMS is stopped after it crashed and the other is 3 minutes after restarting PMS.
Hope it helps. Logs.zip (8.8 MB) 3 Min Logs.zip (7.9 MB)
Hi, I also recently have my Plex server shutting down or crashing on its own. Been using it for a year with no issues and only been having this problem in the last month or so. Have to keep going into DSM to restart the server
Thanks for the quick reply Trump81, I appreciate that it must be frustrating being in tech support, having to deal with the same thing over and over, especially when it’s often the user at fault.
I’m hoping you can help me understand what’s going on here so that I can stop wasting your time,
The show that my PMS had an issue transcoding has been on my server for several years and my problems are only recent, so would they still be connected?
You also mentioned to turn off my server before getting the logs, I did that last time and I was told my server didn’t crash but had been manually turned off, which is why I did it this way.
My problem has returned again today and I have attached the logs after stopping my PMS.
I thought it might help to explain what is happening.
I can’t connect to my local server, when I log on to my Synology and click on Plex it opens a new tab but nothing happens, as in no login screen or anything, the only way to fix it is to restart my PMS.
I use Plexamp a lot through Apple CarPlay in case that has anything to do with it.
Anyway sorry to ramble on and thanks again. Logs.zip (6.7 MB)
im also having almost daily shutdowns since two updates ago. i always manually install the latest updates to the Plex package available in Syn’s package center.
its weird; i will be watching a movie or episode of a show and apparently the server will crash but the media keeps playing all the way to the end. i never notice until i go back to the Plex home screen and none of my media will load. Logs.zip (2.8 MB)
Thanks Trumpy81,
The Philips Hue is only a recent addition so it shouldn’t be the problem but I’ll disconnect it anyway and see how it goes otherwise I’ll keep on installing the updates and keep my fingers crossed.
Welp, still crashing but I figured out that it only crashes when I play media to the end on the Xbox app and press the back button on the Xbox remote. Doesn’t crash until I press back. Really weird.
Edit: apparently an issue with the client app, complete reinstall may have fixed
i’m also having issue .plex is getting manually stopped by synology nas randomly . i’m using DSM 7
,please help if possible .attached is my logs Plex Media Server Logs_2021-08-12_21-20-18.zip (3.0 MB)
@trumpy81 Hello. I am extremely sorry to bother you. My PMS crashes about once every two weeks. Please could you look at my logs? I would really appreciate it.
