Media server stuck on "Starting"?

We no longer source data from IMDB.

Thanks for the quick fix - deleting the “framework” file worked like a champ. Also, I just moved all of my local media files and Netflix streams to a different hard drive, and PMS almost immediately found ALL of the metadata, episode descriptions, etcetera for both my local and Netflix TV shows and my local and Netflix movies. Whatever you did to the scraping really did the trick.

I’m really liking 0.9 a lot. Going from 0.8’s “monolithic” design to the 0.9’s client/server arrangement didn’t make that much difference to me since I have everything on one machine, but the scraping appears to be doing a much better job and doesn’t seem to be as particular regarding filename formats, etcetera. Thanks!

Thank you!

Another question I have is if there's a way to tell Plex (the "viewer") where the PMS is located? I installed Plex on another computer and was impressed to see that the PMS on my "main" computer magically appear on the new computer but what if I would like to share my library over WAN?

What happens if I have two PMS running on my local network and both servers contains a section called Movies? Will there be two "Movies" in Plex without any possibility to differ the two?

Take the weekend off and reply next week, I guess you deserve it...no, you DO deserve it.

Sweden loves you back by the way!

If there is two on the same network the computer name will be shown beneath the section name for just this purpose =)

I also just wanted to leave a short “Thanks”. The Server is working again…

You guys is making it hard to be dissatisfied !

I mean - Loong before i realize that i had a problem, u allready went and posted the solution

Thank you.

I was having the exact same issue as descried plus video playback would freeze and audio was choppy. after applying this fix, it resolved both issues.

thanks a million.

Ed

That is surprising - why not? :o

thanks working again… what;s the prob with imdb?

hi

I tried deleting the framework.bundle to fix the media server starting issue but it still says “starting”. does anyone have this problem or best of all a solution to this problem?

thanks

Hey Elan, thanks for that, is there a way to have the Media Server start without the Mac being logged in?

Just a quick thanks - fix worked as advertised.

Ok, it works!!!

Very good solve system, and very quick

Ups!!!. Now i only have Video Apps in my Plex, dissapeared the movies, cartoon, documentals and tv shows sections!!!. In The Media manager they are ok, but i can’t find those in the Plex program?. Is a consequence of the same issue, or something different?.

In my iMac and in the Mac Mini, I only see Video Apps, Video Apps, Video Apps, Video Apps…

Please tell me what is happening…

Thanks in Advance

Jka

That solution worked for me.

It worked perfectly and i think it may have fixed something that was causing a little panic. I had been getting freezing and then an over-current notice on my external drive for the past few days. I actually didn’t notice the “starting” symptom until last night. After fixing that I can watch movies from that drive without it disappearing anymore.

Thanks for the great communication!

I was one of the lucky Updaters that was affected. Deleted the framework as told and bam , working plex again  Thanks guys.

Funny because I thought at first it was probably just a bad snatched updated so I re- downloaded and it came directly from my mirror I supplied you guys  I just laughed because in the last 5 days my mirror alone has pushed 77.5 GB :stuck_out_tongue:

I second this. At the very least, provide some sort of notification that there was an update. I turned my tv on today to find that the whole plex system crashed and was then messed up due to this update. I understand you've fixed it now, but this kind of thing makes me nervous about using plex.

I was wondering why Plex was going completely sideways. This solved ALL my problems. Thanks!

I was affected by this update and so resolved the constant ‘Starting…’ bug as suggested. This worked fine for a few days but now I get a constant OS X SPOD when hovering over the PMS menu extra - and hence can’t get the PMS menu up to quit it etc.

What’s the best way to find out what it’s stalling on?

Many thanks!

This sounds like something very different. Is this after starting or during a start? Can you post logs/hang report?
