I’m puzzled.
I’ve been running Plex smoothly on a Mac Mini 2010 High Sierra (yes, I know it’s quite old, but it worked flawlessly) until yesterday when the server suddenly wasn’t available anymore.
When I try to start it, it just crashes. I’ve tried older versions, but they also refuse to start. I do suspect an automatic update being the reason, but can’t figure out what happened. The only way to get the Media Server to start is to rename the ```
/Application Support/Plex Media Server/ folder, but then my library is gone ![]()
What can be done to recover?
You’ll probably want to provide logs for someone to look at when they come across this.

You also could try the DB Repair facility:
Good luck,

Hi!
Thank you for your suggestions. I couldn’t get into the GUI for exporting logs.
In the meantime, I have
- renamed the /library/Application Support/Plex Media Server folder
- sucessfully started Plex Media Server (PMS)
- stopped the PMS
- copied an older version of
- /Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db and
- /Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db
to the newly generated PMS-folder - started PMS again (resulting in getting Plex Media Server is currently running database migrations. when trying to access the interface, followed by Internal Server Error
- I restarted PMS, clicked on “Update Library” and it seem like something is hapenning, albeit I now have two Media Servers in the overview, one of which is offline
