I do not have a desktop so I have my plex media server on my laptop but I do not like leaving my laptop open always to be able to use Plex remotely. Can you put the media server on something like network attached storage and have it still work?
There are some brands/models of NAS which PMS can be installed. many NASs are low powered so cannot transcode well or not transcode at all.
