Hello,
I open this bug now, but this issue plagues me since I started using Plex on this specific device, a Samsung UE50TU7090U TV from 2020.
Only on some media, after some playback time, the buffering icon appears, and after a while I get the “unexpected error” screen. Some media can be played without issues, but other stops playing.
This is not a random issue. The problematic files will always get stuck at the exact same point. The same doesn’t happen with other players.
The Internet connection of course is good on the server and player side.
I have a log but for privacy reasons I don’t want to publicly post it here. Is there a way to share it only with Plex employees?
Thank you.
Follow-up:
Just did a quick test after updating to 1.42.2.10156, and the problem (at least with this specific file) looks related to audio transcoding. If I select the AC3 track, it direct plays the file, while the DTS track needs to be transcoded.
I just played the first few seconds of the file after selecting the AC3 track, and it didn’t stop at the usual place.
The server is more than capable of transcoding audio, so the problem lies in Plex. I can’t tell if the problem is with DTS specifically or with audio transcoding in general.
EDIT: Just tried disabling direct play and direct stream, and it didn’t get stuck at the usual point. Looks like the problem happens when audio is transcoded but video is not.
